Spain striker Ferran Torres, who wrote his name in the annals of World Cup history by scoring the 106th-minute winner in La Roja’s 1-0 triumph over Argentina in the final, reportedly broke up with girlfriend Martina Hunter less than two weeks before the all-important summit clash.

German publication Bild quoted Spanish journalist Javi de Hoyos, saying: “I have spoken to people close to both of them [Torres and Hunter] and the romance is over, for now.” He added that Torres and Hunter parted ways after Spain’s 2-1 quarter-final win over Belgium.
