Zimbabwe is all set to lock horns with <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/venkatesh-prasad-backs-rohit-sharma-and-virat-kohli-for-2027-odi-world-cup-23640871" rel="nofollow">Team India</a> in the three-match T20I series, beginning from July 23. The first match is scheduled to be played at the Harare Sports Club.
Ahead of the first match, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/t20-world-cup-2026-sikandar-raza-praises-unity-and-belief-after-zimbabwe-shock-australia-in-the-match-23616548" rel="nofollow">Zimbabwe's skipper Sikandar Raza</a> feels that both teams have an equal chance to clinch the series and is also confident of the hosts displaying entertaining cricket.
"Both countries will have an equal chance in this series. But one thing I am very sure about is that because Zimbabwe has been playing very consistent and very entertaining cricket, I can say this for sure that this series will be very entertaining," he told Star Sports.
"As far as winning or losing is concerned, both countries have an equal chance to win the series," the skipper added.
He also stated that <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/mohammad-azharuddin-lauds-rohit-sharmas-lords-hundred-backs-him-for-the-2027-world-cup-23640848" rel="nofollow">Indian cricket</a> was going through a transition phase, which will make the series interesting.
"Yes, India is going through a transition and to some extent you'll see Zimbabwe is also gonna have a little bit of transition happening as well. I don't see it as a one-sided series," said Raza.
Team India under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer will enter the three-match series after suffering a loss against England. Earlier, the "Men in Blue" also faced a shocking defeat in the T20I series against Ireland. Since Iyer's appointment as captain in the shortest format, Team India has suffered two consecutive defeats. It will be interesting to see if Iyer and his men bounce back against Zimbabwe.
Additionally, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ind-vs-eng-5th-t20i-parthiv-patel-questions-sanju-samson-omission-after-series-loss-against-england-23639199" rel="nofollow">wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson</a> has been dropped from India's squad for the upcoming series. Cricket fans will also keep a tab on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. In the series against England, the left-handed batsman didn't taste much success. Ahead of the series against Zimbabwe, Sooryavanshi will be expected to deliver big knocks.
So far, India has announced their squad for the upcoming T20I series against Zimbabwe.
