Marathi film Gondhal has become India's official entry into the Oscars 2027. The Film Federation of India announced that the film has been submitted to compete at the 99th Academy Awards

Marathi actor Vikas Samudre sparked concern with a social media post that appeared to suggest he was taking an extreme step. Mumbai Police traced him and confirmed he was safe. Samudre later said a typing error caused the confusion
