Israel's military and Shin Bet say they have killed senior Hamas official Jamal Abu Saeed in an airstrike in Gaza City. Identified as the head of operations in Hamas' military intelligence apparatus, Abu Saeed was accused by Israel of holding former hostage Omer Shem Tov captive during the war. Shem Tov was abducted from the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, and spent 505 days in Hamas captivity. After his release, he spoke about the severe conditions he endured, including hunger, physical abuse and 50 days in complete darkness inside a cramped cell.
