The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a 'yellow alert' for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and some other parts of Maharashtra, predicting thunderstorm and rains.

In a Mumbai weather update bulletin, the IMD stated that thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) at isolated places were very likely.
