There was a time when boybands were all the rage. This writer is old enough to remember the early noughties phenomenon of Band of Boys. So, it was no surprise when Indian-American producer and composer, Savan Kotecha set out to shape the first Gen Z boy band from India.

The quintet of Hemang Singh, Mashaal Shaikh, Bhuvan Shetty, Kurien Sebastian, and Shayan Pattem are barely in their 20s — Shetty being the oldest at 22. Signed on by Kotecha’s Visva Records project in 2025, the youngsters debuted their first track, Tum Se, in November 2025. After their 12-city tour in June, they are preparing for the release of their debut EP, Homecoming, on July 31. The quintet talks to us about the journey so far.
