Two tourists had a narrow escape after their rental car was swept away by strong floodwaters near Devle Bridge in Malvali, close to Lonavala, after they allegedly followed a route suggested by Google Maps during heavy rainfall, officials and local residents said.
According to villagers, the tourists were travelling in a rental vehicle (registration number UK04Q1656) when they accidentally drove onto a flooded stretch near the bridge. Misjudging the depth and force of the water, the vehicle was swept away by the strong current.
