IMD issues red alert for Pune; schools shut on Monday amid heavy rain warning

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Pune district for Monday, July 6, warning of extremely heavy rainfall. In response, District Collector Jitendra Dudi has declared a holiday for all schools across the district as a precautionary measure to ensure student safety

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Pune district for Monday, July 6, warning of extremely heavy rainfall. In view of the forecast and as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students, District Collector Jitendra Dudi has declared a holiday for all schools across the district on Monday.
The District Collector has also appealed to citizens to avoid venturing outdoors unless absolutely necessary and to stay away from rivers, streams and other vulnerable locations during heavy rainfall.
