India’s ace shuttler PV Sindhu revealed that she’s been working even while on holiday. Speaking at the inauguration of the Centre for Sports Excellence in Visakhapatnam recently, Sindhu said that her vacations with husband Venkata Datta Sai have turned into work trips as she has been tasked with researching some of the world’s leading sports training facilities as part of a multi-sport project, under Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
“We studied Aspetar in Doha, leading [sports training] facilities in Europe and Asia. By the end of our visit, our holiday albums had lesser tourist photos and more pictures of recovery rooms, flooring, and air conditioning vents. I get few holidays, and now even those come with site visits. We went to Italy, and Datta said, ‘While we are here, let’s see a facility in Milan.’ We go to Australia, and suddenly the Melbourne Cricket Ground becomes a research topic. At this rate, I might need a holiday from my holidays,” said Sindhu with a laugh.
