Chopra registered his season's best throw of 85.83 m in his second attempt, which helped him finish in second place. His throw in the ongoing edition of the Commonwealth Games was slightly better than the throw he produced in the Doha Diamond League. He registered a throw of 85.69 m in Doha and finished fourth in the competition.
