Harry Kane became the first English footballer in a quarter of a century to win the prestigious Ballon d'Or, following a remarkable individual season on the pitch. The 33-year-old Bayern Munich striker finished as Europe's top goalscorer after netting 73 times for club and country.
Domestically, he set a new scoring record in Germany while leading Bayern to a Bundesliga and German Cup double, which included a hat-trick in the cup final against Stuttgart. Additionally, he captained England to a third-place finish at the World Cup, scoring six goals to surpass Gary Lineker as England's top all-time scorer at the tournament.
