During the match, Team India's vice-captain Axar Patel took a stunning catch to dismiss England skipper Harry Brook.
Speaking on his extraordinary catch, legendary Team India cricketer <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/photo/dp-world-celebrity-event-from-sunil-gavaskar-yuvraj-singh-to-leander-paes-eoin-morgan-here-are-all-the-sports-personalities-who-attended-event-109997/1" rel="nofollow">Sunil Gavaskar</a> heaped praise on Axar by saying that it was unbelievable.
"Axar Patel's catch to dismiss Harry Brook was unbelievable. Brook can take the game away, and you have to grab every chance to get his wicket, and Axar did that. He ran 24 meters away from his fielding spot, kept his eyes on the ball, balanced himself, and took the catch. Unbelievable stuff. He also played a key role in Will Jacks' dismissal," he said.
Later in the match, Axar played a crucial role in dismissing Will Jacks. Reflecting on the effort, the former cricketer said that Team India's vice-captain showcased great cricketing intelligence.
"He also played a key role in Will Jacks' dismissal. The Bethell-Jacks partnership was taking the game away. But Axar ran to his left, grabbed the ball, and smartly passed it to <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/t20-world-cup-2026-home-advantage-could-boost-shivam-dube-against-england-says-coach-bhosle-23619368" rel="nofollow">Shivam Dube</a>. That shows great cricketing intelligence," said Gavaskar.
Later, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel bagged one wicket each. Hardik Pandya returned with the figures of two wickets for 38 runs in four overs. Shivam Dube went wicketless in the semi-final 2 of the T20 World Cup 2026.
With this, while chasing a target of 254 runs, the "Three Lions" managed to reach 246 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Following the victory, the "Men in Blue" have sealed their berth for the title clash of the marquee event.
