In the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2026-gt-pacer-kagiso-rabada-caught-smoking-viral-video-gets-fans-attention-ahead-of-rcb-clash-23627124" rel="nofollow">IPL 2026</a> match against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) suffered a defeat by 40 runs at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground in Lucknow.
During the match, LSG's skipper Rishabh Pant was dismissed on a three-ball duck.
Speaking about his poor form in the ongoing edition of the cash-rich league, former Team India cricketer Saba Karim explained that a modern T20 batsman needs to find his own template. He said that players such as Shreyas Iyer and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2026-skipper-rajat-patidar-speaks-about-rcb-mindset-ahead-of-clash-against-gt-23627108" rel="nofollow">Rajat Patidar</a> have got clarity about their game plans.
"A modern T20 batter has to find his own template. For instance, whether it is Shreyas Iyer or Rajat Patidar, even if Rajat Patidar goes in to bat on a track like this, I am sure he's got his clarity in his mind that he will go and play the big shots, and he is confident of doing so," he explained.
The former cricketer also feels that Pant is yet to find his template in white-ball cricket.
"<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2026-our-batting-is-letting-us-down-lsg-skipper-pant-after-loss-against-rr-23627021" rel="nofollow">Rishabh Pant</a>'s problem lies in the fact that he's yet to find his template for white-ball cricket. And not only talking about T20, even ODIs. And Test-match batting for him, I think there is more transparency in his thought process the way he prepares. I think somehow in white-ball cricket he is yet to find that," said Karim.
LSG will now gear up to clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 26 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground in Lucknow.
