The Indian women's cricket team is all set to lock horns against <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/sri-lanka-women-record-first-win-over-india-in-seven-years-23535284" rel="nofollow">Sri Lanka</a> for a five-match T20I series, starting from December 21 in Visakhapatnam.
The series will be played just before the start of the Women's Premier League (WPL) in January.
After the first match, teams will clash against each other in the second and third <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/photo/t20i-pathum-nissanka-becomes-highest-run-scorer-for-sri-lanka-in-format-108438/1" rel="nofollow">T20I</a>, which are scheduled to be played on December 23 and 26, respectively, in Visakhapatnam. The fourth and fifth T20I matches will be played on December 28th and 30th, respectively, in Thiruvananthapuram.

This will be the first time the "Women in Blue" will be back into the action since the ODI Women's World Cup 2025 triumph against <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ind-vs-sa-odis-from-virat-kohli-to-quinton-de-kock-here-are-top-five-players-to-watch-out-for-23605350" rel="nofollow">South Africa</a> at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai.
"The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announces the schedule for the upcoming IDFC FIRST Bank Women's T20I series as India hosts Sri Lanka for a five-match contest next month. The series will begin in Visakhapatnam before moving to Thiruvananthapuram for the remaining fixtures," BCCI said in a statement.
The five-match contest will also serve as the preparatory series for the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/t20-world-cup-2026-venues-event-ambassador-schedule-and-much-more-rohit-sharma-india-vs-pakistan-23604855" rel="nofollow">T20 World Cup 2026</a>, which is scheduled to begin from June 12 in England and Wales.
The last time the two teams met in any format was in the ODI World Cup opener on September 30, while the previous T20I between them was at the T20 World Cup in October 2024.
So far, both teams have faced each other on 26 occasions, out of which the "Women in Blue" have come victorious on 20 occasions. The Sri Lankans last time registered a win in India was in 2014 in Visakhapatnam.
Later, the players will feature in the Women's Premier League (WPL). Harmanpreet and Co. will then tour to Australia for the all-format series. The Australian tour will include one Test match, three One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and three T20 Internationals (T20Is).
The series begins with T20Is in Sydney, Canberra, and Adelaide, followed by ODIs in Brisbane and Hobart, and concludes with a single Test match in Perth.
