"223* in a 406-run chase is some knock and the achievement of a monumental world record But it&rsquo;s the journey behind that innings that holds even more value. You&rsquo;ve always been one of the hardest workers on the park, and your willingness to learn, improve and keep pushing yourself has stood out every time. To see you now, leading India at such a young age, with that calm head, maturity and the same fierce hunger, is a rare ability to possess! Keep going, Prince! You&rsquo;ve earned every bit of this. @ShubmanGill #ShubmanGill #IndvsWI," he wrote.

<h2>IND vs WI 2nd ODI: Shubman Gill's records</h2>
Riding on his knock, Gill registered the fastest century by an Indian skipper and the fastest double hundred in ODI's history. The right-handed batsman achieved the feat of the fastest century by an Indian skipper in 63 balls and the fastest double ton in the format's history in just 117 balls.
His knock is also the third-highest score in the format's history. Gill's unbeaten knock of 223 runs sits behind Rohit Sharma's 264-run knock and New Zealand's Martin Guptill's unbeaten 237-run knock.
Gill also surpassed <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/photo/asian-games-2026-ishan-kishan-unbeaten-80-run-knock-helps-team-india-post-169-runs-113337/1" rel="nofollow">Ishan Kishan</a>'s record of 126-ball double ton against Bangladesh in 2022. The Fazilka-born cricketer with two double tons is the second batsman along with Rohit Sharma (3) with multiple double centuries in the format.
The knock also helped him become the second batsman, after Glenn Maxwell, to score a double century in an ODI match while chasing.
The 27-year-old batsman also became the first-ever cricketer to smash a double century while leading the team in both Tests and ODIs.
Gill also broke Virender Sehwag's (219 runs against the West Indies) record of the highest-ever ODI score by an Indian captain.
He also reached the 150-run mark in 89 balls, which is the fastest by an Indian batsman in an ODI match.
Gill also surpassed Maxwell's Wankhede miracle to register the highest individual score while chasing.
