The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), at its 95th Annual General Meeting in Mumbai on Friday, increased the lifetime medical reimbursement for retired cricketers, who have played a minimum of 10 first-class matches, from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.

The initiative was pursued by Indian Cricketers Association (ICA) representatives Sudha Shah, a former India woman cricketer, and former Andhra captain V Chamundeswaranath. The ICA had requested a 100 per cent hike to Rs 20 lakh, but the amount was eventually settled at Rs 15 lakh, a top BCCI official confirmed to mid-day.
