Sri Lanka's Dunith Wellalage has returned home after his father, Suranga, passed away on Thursday, when the spinner was playing the Asia Cup 2025 group stage match against Afghanistan.

The 54-year-old died of heart attack and Wellalage was informed of his father's demise after the match, following which the spinner left for Colombo on the earliest available flight. So far, his return to Sri Lanka's Asia Cup 2025 campaign remains uncertain.
