Violent unrest rocks Milan as clashes with police, vandalism and looting trigger a sweeping security crackdown across Italy. After a weekend of turmoil, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's government introduces tougher penalties for violent protesters and plans to deploy 500 soldiers alongside police in Milan. Under Italy's new security decree, people convicted under the new offence targeting violent participation in demonstrations could face up to five years in prison and fines reaching €20,000. Parents may also be held financially responsible for damage caused by their minor children.
