Assam continues to battle a devastating flood crisis even as water levels begin to recede in some regions. The death toll has now climbed to 87, with nearly 1.3 lakh people still affected across the state. While Upper Assam has witnessed some relief from receding floodwaters, fresh rainfall warnings have once again put authorities on high alert. The India Meteorological Department has issued Red and Orange Alerts for parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Meghalaya, warning of extremely heavy rainfall that could worsen the flood situation in Assam. A Yellow Alert has also been issued for Nagaland, raising concerns for Assam's border districts as rivers remain vulnerable to renewed swelling. Among the worst-hit districts, Sivasagar continues to bear the brunt of the disaster, with over 1.28 lakh residents still struggling amid inundated villages and damaged infrastructure. Two more fatalities reported from the district have pushed the overall death toll higher, underscoring the scale of the humanitarian crisis. WATCH
