A deadly plane crash in the Democratic Republic of Congo has claimed the lives of 14 people, including two senior military justice officials, after a small aircraft went down in Kenge, Kwango province, on September 25. The aircraft was reportedly returning from Kikwit to Kinshasa when it encountered trouble in flight and crashed while an emergency landing was apparently being attempted. The aircraft crashed in Kenge's Manzawu area and caught fire after impact. Initial reports said there were no casualties reported on the ground. The FARDC has launched an investigation to establish the exact circumstances and cause of the crash, meaning reports of a technical failure remain part of the preliminary account and have not been confirmed as the definitive cause. Houthi forces have claimed a fresh wave of missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, with Riyadh and an Aramco-linked facility reportedly among the targets. The claims come amid renewed Saudi-Houthi tensions and a sharp escalation in cross-border attacks linked to the wider conflict in Yemen. A Houthi military spokesman said the attacks were carried out in retaliation for what the group described as Saudi “aggression” and the blockade of Yemen. The Houthis also claimed that Saudi Arabia had carried out 1,018 attacks against Yemen since the latest escalation, warning that further attacks would trigger responses “of the same kind.” Saudi authorities have not yet confirmed the Houthi claims regarding strikes on Riyadh or an Aramco facility. The latest exchange comes as fighting intensifies across Yemen, raising fresh concerns over regional security, Saudi oil infrastructure and vital energy routes.
