Israel says a deadly strike in Gaza killed Tamer al-Sabbagh, whom the IDF identifies as the final surviving member of the Hamas cell involved in abducting Shani Louk's body during the October 7, 2023, attacks. According to the Israeli military, a drone struck al-Sabbagh near a crowded market on al-Jalaa Street. He was from Jabalia refugee camp and appeared in the widely circulated photograph showing Louk's body in a pickup truck after the Hamas-led assault. Louk was 22 and attending the Supernova music festival. The IDF also announced the killing of Akram Bassam Shaaban Yassin, identified by Israel as a senior operative in Hamas's general security apparatus. The military says the unit supports the group's leadership and coordinates sensitive communications.

Assam continues to battle one of its worst monsoon disasters of the season as the flood crisis deepens across the state. The death toll has climbed to 97, while more than 1.68 lakh people remain affected across 15 flood-hit districts, with rescue and relief operations continuing on a war footing. Rising river levels and relentless rainfall have submerged vast stretches of villages, forcing families to abandon their homes in search of safety. Around 30 families have taken shelter at a relief camp, while several others including children and elderly residents have been seen living along railway tracks with their livestock after floodwaters inundated their homes. The situation worsened after four gates of the Doyang Dam were opened, leading to a fresh surge of water in parts of the Golaghat region.
