As per an official statement from the Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Municipal Corporation, the accident was reported around 3.55 am near the Nayara petrol pump at Kharegaon Toll Naka on the Mumbai-bound carriageway in Thane

Following the evacuation, some residents have been temporarily shifted to a facility at Kuksheth, Sector 14, near the ward committee office in a newly constructed market building. Others have chosen to stay with their relatives until further notice
