The eclipse was also visible from Turin, Italy, where the partially covered Sun was photographed above the hills surrounding the city (Pic/AP)

Some parts of Spain witnessed a total solar eclipse, offering a much rarer spectacle. In Berlanga de Duero, central Spain, the Moon completely covered the Sun during the totality phase, briefly turning the daytime sky dramatically darker (Pic/AP)

NASA also released a composite image showing the progression of the total solar eclipse over San Millán de los Caballeros in Spain, documenting the changing position of the Moon as it moved across the Sun (Pic/AFP)

The eclipse produced dramatically different views depending on the location. While observers in some European cities witnessed only a portion of the Sun being obscured, those within the path of totality were able to see the Moon completely block the solar disc and reveal the corona (Pic/AFP)
