India has provided medical supplies to Kenya to strengthen its preparedness and response to the Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak, with consignments including personal protective equipment (PPE), N95 masks, respirators and laboratory equipment to support frontline healthcare workers and improve infection control

The Indian government has donated medical supplies valued at KSh 83.39 million (approximately Rs 5.1 crore), while the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has contributed additional supplies worth approximately KSh 2.85 million

The assistance includes 6,000 protective PPE kits, 60 powered air-purifying respirators, 30,000 N95 masks and more than 86,000 sample transport kits, along with gowns, gloves, face shields, boots and infrared thermometers

India's second consignment, weighing 11 tonnes, includes PPE kits, powered air-purifying respirators, biosafety cabinets and cold-chain refrigerators. The latest delivery continues the medical assistance provided by India in July. On October 17, Kenya confirmed four new cases of the disease, bringing the total number of cases to seven. The four patients include a close male relative of the first Ebola patient, who died, and three health workers who attended to him while he was in hospital.

The assistance highlights the continuing healthcare partnership between India and Kenya, with India expressing solidarity with Kenya's efforts to contain Ebola and strengthen public health preparedness.
