NASA’s Perseverance rover has found evidence of complex carbon in Mars’ Jezero crater, where previous evidence of possible ancient life has been found.
This macromolecular complex carbon could hold evidence that ancient microbial life existed in the sedimentary material. Measurements of two mudstones show hundreds of organic detections.
