An Israeli airstrike on Tuesday killed Izz al-Din Al-Beik, the head of Hamas’ armed wing in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Israeli officials. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz said Beik was targeted for planning attacks and recruiting militants. Hamas confirmed his death in the dawn strike, which hit an apartment building in Gaza City’s Nasr neighbourhood. Health officials reported another person died from injuries sustained during the attack.
