China builds 500 J-20 stealth fighter jets as India advances AMCA project

China has reportedly produced around 500 J-20 'Mighty Dragon' stealth fighter jets, strengthening the People's Liberation Army Air Force. The development comes as India continues work on its indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), which is expected to take about a decade to become operational.

China has produced an estimated 500 J-20 ‘Mighty Dragon’ stealth fighter jets, cementing the aircraft’s position as the backbone of the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF), says defence analyst Andreas Rupprecht, cited in a report by The War Zone.

The development comes as India continues work on its indigenous Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), which is expected to take around a decade to enter operational service. While Russia’s Su-57 may not offer the same level of stealth capability, it could emerge as India’s only immediate option should an urgent need arise.
