West Indies, the former kings of international cricket, find themselves in an embarrassing position again. The two-time ODI World Cup champions (1975, 1979) have now to play and do well in the Qualifier for next year’s World Cup to be held in South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The top-ranked eight teams will figure in the ICC-organised tournament held in that part of the world for the first time since 2003. The hosts qualify automatically.
