Protesters raised slogans, including “Vote Chor, Gaddi Chor”, as the party's youth and student wings demonstrated against the poll body chief

The protest comes amid Opposition criticism of the SIR exercise. On Monday, Mamata Banerjee said elections should be conducted using the existing electoral rolls until the names of all eligible voters are included in the lists

The TMC has raised concerns over the revision exercise, alleging that it could lead to eligible voters being excluded from electoral rolls

The opposition parties have been demanding safeguards to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral rolls during the revision process

Separately, INDIA bloc leaders and supporters, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, marched along Barakhamba Road towards the Supreme Court of India on Monday over alleged irregularities in the SIR of electoral rolls. The leaders also filed a petition in the apex court.
