Former J-K Governor Satyapal Malik passes away after prolonged illness

Satyapal Malik served as the last governor of the erstwhile state of Jammu-Kashmir from August 2018 to October 2019. Article 370 was abrogated in August 2019

Former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik passed away in New Delhi on Tuesday after a prolonged illness.

The 79‑year‑old leader breathed his last at 1.10 pm at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in the national capital, according to his Personal Secretary, KS Rana, reported news agency ANI.

Malik served as the last governor of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir from August 2018 to October 2019. It was during his tenure that Article 370 was abrogated by the Centre, forming the state into the Union Territories of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.
