Brahmapuri in Chandrapur district recorded the highest in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-weather-updates-forecast-of-thunderstorms-rain-in-latur-and-nanded-23349726" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Maharashtra</a> at 47.1 degrees Celsius on Monday, reported PTI citing an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
In addition to Brahmapuri, several places in the state's Vidarbha region experienced sweltering heat with maximum temperatures going beyong 40 degrees, IMD said.
Nagpur recorded a maximum temperature of 45.6 degrees, Amravati (45.0), Wardha (45.0), Chandrapur (44.8), Bhandara (44.5), Gondia (44.5), Gadchiroli (44.0), Yavatmal (42.5), Akola (42.2) and Washim (41.2).
According to IMD Nagpur, heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in Chandrapur, Akola and Yavatmal on Tuesday and Akola on Wednesday.
As per the PTI report, the weather bureau has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty wind with 40-50 kmph speed and light to moderate rain at isolated places over Gadchiroli.
It has forecast similar weather at isolated places in Chandrapur and Yavatmal districts at night.&nbsp;

While the maximum temperature in Yavatmal was the highest in Vidarbha, Akola sizzled at 45.2 degrees Celsius, Brahmpuri 45, Gondia 44.4, Amravati 44.2, Wardha 44.1, Gadchiroli 43.4, Washim 43.4, Bhandara 43.3, Nagpur 42.4 and Buldhana 38.8 degrees Celsius, reported PTI.
Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in Chandrapur and Akola in the next two days, according to India Meteorological Department, Nagpur, reported PTI.
The Met department has predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, gusty wind (30-40 kmph) and light to moderate rainfall at isolated places over Buldhana and light rainfall at isolated places over Akola, Washim, and Chandrapur districts in Vidarbha in the night.
Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-weather-update-akola-hottest-city-in-state-at-over-45-deg-c-district-collector-imposes-sec-144-23351210" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Akola collector</a> on Saturday imposed Section 144 of the CrPC till May 31.
The order said it is necessary to provide fans, drinking water and sheds to the workers, change the timings of private coaching classes for students and implement other measures effectively so that the people do not suffer from heat stroke, reported PTI.
Workers engaged in the industrial sector should not work in the sun, it said.
It will be the responsibility of the establishment's owner to prepare adequate sheds for protection from heat stroke, arrangement of fans, coolers or other devices, adequate drinking water and first aid boxes, the order said, reported PTI.
The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-weather-updates-parts-of-state-see-temperatures-above-40-degrees-celsius-jalgaon-sizzles-at-45-2-23350405" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">private coaching classes</a> should be conducted up to 10 am and after 5 pm. If the classes are to be continued between 10 am and 5 pm, arrangements of fans, coolers should be made at the coaching centres, it said.
