<p>The officials said a truck ran over six people who were removing a crashed vehicle from the road in Beed district of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-five-year-old-girl-killed-her-younger-sister-injured-in-accident-in-thane-city-23532841" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Maharashtra</a> on Monday, reported news agency PTI.</p>
<p>At around 8.30 pm, a car driven by Deepak Atkare of Gevrai climbed over the divider on a stretch of National Highway-52 near Gadhi village, about 100 km from Mumbai, reported PTI.</p>
<p>While some people were busy removing the car, a truck mowed them down at around 11.30 pm, they said. Six of them died while one was injured, they added.</p>
<p>The dead were identified as Balu Atkare, Bhagwat Paralkar, Sachin Nannavre, Manoj Karande, Krushna Jadhav, and Deepak Surayya -- all residents of<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-accident-four-killed-after-car-collides-with-truck-in-gadchiroli-23546837" target="_blank" rel="none noopener"> Georai</a> in Beed, they said, reported PTI.</p>
<p>Efforts are underway to trace the driver of the truck, they said.</p>

<p>In another incident, four elderly people died when a car fell into a ditch on the Kirtinagar-Badhiyargarh road in Tehri district of <a href="https://mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-tanker-filled-with-kerosene-falls-from-bridge-in-palghar-district-driver-injured-23509843" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Uttarakhand</a> on Monday, officials said, reported PTI.</p>
<p>All four people were returning to a village after attending a religious function organised in Badhiyargarh, they said.</p>
<p>They were all residents of Chandigarh and had come to visit their village, Malgarhi, Kirtinagar Tehsildar Pradeep Kandari said, reported PTI.</p>
<p>He said their car suddenly went out of control and fell 40 metres down into a ditch.<br />Teams of the tehsil administration and State Disaster Response Force were deployed for rescue work.</p>
<p>Kandhari said that the four people were taken out of the car and immediately rushed to <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/maharashtra-six-dead-5-injured-in-tempo-truck-collision-on-nashik-mumbai-highway-23463771" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Srikot Base Hospital </a>where doctors declared them dead.</p>
<p>Darshan Singh Aswal (70), Dharam Singh Aswal, (70) Karna Singh Panwar (65) and Rajendra Singh Panwar (60) died in the accident, reported PTI.</p>
<p>The exact cause of the accident could not be ascertained and the administration has ordered an inquiry.</p>
