Maharashtra: Latur police book bikers for modified silencers

Police in Latur registered cases against eight bikers for using loud modified silencers as part of a drive against noise pollution. In a separate incident, a tempo driver from Nanded allegedly died by suicide inside his parked vehicle, with a note shared on WhatsApp under investigation

The police in Maharashtra's Latur city have registered cases against eight motorcycle riders for using modified silencers that produce excessive noise, an official said on Sunday.

As reported by news agency PTI, the action was taken as part of a drive carried out on Saturday to enforce traffic discipline, curb noise pollution, and ensure public safety, he said.
