Fraudsters using fake loan apps to blackmail users with morphed images, warns Maharashtra Cyber

According to officers, cybercriminals are sending fraudulent links disguised as job offers, cashback deals, or loan approvals. When users click these links, a malicious loan app is installed on their phones, resulting in unauthorised transfers of Rs 5,000 or more from the bank accounts of users

Maharashtra Cyber Police have issued a warning about a rising online crimes targeting young people, women, and vulnerable users, in which fraudsters use fake loan apps to blackmail victims with morphed images.

According to officers, cybercriminals are sending fraudulent links disguised as job offers, cashback deals, or loan approvals. When users click these links, a malicious loan app is installed on their phones, resulting in unauthorised transfers of Rs 5,000 or more from the bank accounts of users.
