In a major operation, an inter-state gas theft racket was busted by the Maharashtra State Level Vigilance Cell in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, where officials seized LPG worth approximately Rs 1.26 crore, including two large tankers, an official statement said.
The state-level vigilance team uncovered an inter-state network accused of stealing LPG meant for public distribution. Officials said the racket was depriving nearly 2,480 economically weaker households of their rightful monthly gas supply, it said.
