Large parts of North and Central India continue to reel under intense heatwave conditions, with maximum temperatures ranging above 45 degrees Celsius in several regions, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) data as of April 28, 2026.
The highest temperature in the country was recorded at Banda in Uttar Pradesh, where the mercury soared to a scorching 45.6 degrees Celsius, significantly above normal levels.
