Flash floods hit Udhampur, families evacuated as heavy rain batters Jammu and Kashmir

Flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall hit the Barkuanda area of Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district, damaging houses and forcing the evacuation of affected families. Officials also reported flooding in Basantgarh tehsil, while the Chenab river at Akhnoor crossed the flood alert level amid continuing rain across the region.

Flash floods hit the Barkuanda area of Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur district early Friday, causing damage to several houses and prompting the evacuation of affected families, officials said.
The district administration evacuated three affected families to the government middle school at Barkuanda as a precautionary measure, they said.
