Vehicular traffic on the Mumbai-Bengaluru National Highway was disrupted on Wednesday following a farmers’ protest at the Maharashtra-Karnataka border, prompting police to advise commuters to avoid the affected stretch and request Google Maps to mark it as closed.

The agitation, underway at the Kognoli toll plaza in Karnataka near the Maharashtra border, began on Tuesday morning. Farmers are protesting over sugarcane prices, ethanol rates and other demands, affecting traffic travelling from Kolhapur and other parts of Maharashtra towards Belagavi and Bengaluru.
