A railway employee's quick thinking and bravery helped save the life of a passenger at <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/heart-transported-by-train-in-a-first-indian-railways-transport-live-heart-from-gujarats-surat-to-ahmedabad-on-vande-bharat-express-train-23642604" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Ahmedabad railway station</a> in Gujarat on Monday morning.
The incident took place on Platform No. 1 when a middle-aged passenger attempted to board Train No. 11464 Jabalpur-Veraval Express, which was already moving.
The entire incident was captured in a CCTV footage.
According to the information shared by railway employees, the passenger lost his footing while trying to board the B-3 coach.
He fell from the moving train and became caught near the coach steps, leaving him in a dangerous position alongside the platform.
At the time, Mahesh Parmar, a technician working in the railway's Mechanical Department, noticed the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/maharashtra-80-students-10-teachers-travelling-on-mangala-express-during-school-trip-fall-sick-in-bhusawal-23647361" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">passenger in distress</a>.
<h2>Technician acts quickly to rescue passenger</h2>
Without hesitation, Parmar ran towards the moving train, grabbed the passenger and pulled him towards the platform with all his strength.
His quick response and courage helped bring the passenger safely back onto the platform and prevented what could have been a <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-65-year-old-driver-arrested-after-woman-dies-in-alleged-rash-driving-accident-in-malad-23647595" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">serious or fatal accident</a>.
<h2>Courage praised by railway community</h2>
The incident has been praised as an example of alertness, courage and dedication among railway employees.
Members of the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-local-train-updates-western-railway-announces-new-mumbai-local-train-timetable-from-september-1-adds-six-services-check-full-details-here-23647631" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Western Railway</a> Employees' Union (WREU) and railway staff congratulated Parmar for his bravery and his efforts to save the passenger's life.
The incident also highlights the dangers of attempting to board or alight from a moving train, with passengers urged to wait until trains come to a complete stop before boarding.
