Bihar floods: Over 40 lakh people affected across 14 districts as rivers cross danger mark

Floods have affected over 40 lakh people across 14 Bihar districts after heavy rain and rising rivers. The Ganga crossed its previous highest flood level at Sultanganj, while 723 community kitchens, 15 relief camps and 2,000-plus rescue boats support victims.

Over 40 lakh people have been affected by floods across 14 districts of Bihar as a result of torrential rainfall over the past five days, with multiple rivers flowing above the danger mark, officials stated on Wednesday.

"Incessant rain in various districts caused rivers and streams to overflow. Besides, heavy rainfall in catchment areas of Nepal has also led to rivers flowing above the danger level at several places," an official said.
