Air quality in parts of Haryana was recorded in the poor and very poor categories, while it was poor in neighbouring <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/delhi-ncr-air-quality-remains-in-very-poor-category-overall-aqi-at-362-23599863" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Punjab</a> on Thursday, reported news agency PTI.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Dharuhera in Haryana's Rewari district stood at 338 at 10 am, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.
Jind and Rohtak too recorded very poor air quality with an AQI of 305 and 302 respectively, reported PTI.
Among places where AQI was in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/air-quality-in-delhi-stays-very-poor-as-pollution-levels-rise-23599734" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">poor category</a> included Ambala (248), Bhiwani (251), Charkhi Dadri (263), Gurugram (230), Panchkula (257), Panipat (275), Kurukshetra (249), Karnal (207), Fatehabad (277) and Sonepat (226), reported PTI.
In Punjab, Mandi Gobindgarh recorded an AQI of 274, Jalandhar 213, Ludhiana 251, Patiala 119, Amritsar 151, Khanna 152, Rupnagar 157 and Bathinda 90, reported PTI.
Chandigarh, the common capital of Punjab and Haryana, recorded an AQI of 129.
An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', 401 and 450 'severe' and above 450 'severe plus'.
Meanwhile, the air quality in the city remained in the very poor category on Thursday morning, while <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/haryana-records-very-poor-air-quality-punjab-remains-in-poor-category-23599737" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Anand Vihar</a> was in the severe zone, reported PTI.
Delhi's air quality has deteriorated post Diwali with slow wind speed making matters worse.
According to the SAMEER app, Anand Vihar recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 428, the highest among all monitoring stations.
Most other stations across the city recorded air quality in the very poor range, leaving only six stations in the poor category out of 48, reported PTI.
The AQI at 9 am stood at 326, according to the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/air-is-grey-lungs-are-black-and-bjps-accountability-invisible-congress-as-delhis-air-quality-worsens-23599738" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Central Pollution Control Board</a> (CPCB) hourly bulletin, reported PTI.
The minimum temperature settled at 18.1 degrees Celsius, 3.7 degrees below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 32 degrees Celsius, with the weather department forecasting mist in the morning hours and mainly clear sky later.
The Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas' (CAQM) sub-committee on GRAP comprehensively reviewed the air quality scenario in the region as well as the meteorological conditions and air quality forecasts on Sunday and took a call to invoke the 12-point action plan as per Stage-II of the extant GRAP in the entire <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/air-quality-deteriorates-to-poor-category-in-kolkata-and-howrah-23599745" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">National Capital Region</a> in an effort to prevent further deterioration of air quality.
