Mumbai is gearing up for Ganesh Visarjan 2026, with the BMC setting up more than 383 artificial ponds and preparing 67 natural immersion sites across the city. More than 25,000 civic personnel, lifeguards, ambulances, motorboats and other facilities have been deployed for the immersion process. PICS/BMC

In a press release issued on Friday, the civic body said it has also deployed more than 25,000 officials and employees at immersion sites, while arrangements include 1,194 steel plates, 23 German rafts, 34 cranes, 85 ambulances, and 10 motorboats for the immersions to take place smoothly

According to the BMC, the artificial ponds have been set up at 278 locations across Mumbai. Natural immersion sites have been equipped with various facilities for idols above six feet in height

The BMC has also arranged 498 nirmalya kalash, 326 nirmalya dumpers, 261 reception centres, 228 control rooms, and 75 observation towers. A total of 1,132 lifeguards and 6,052 floodlights and searchlights will be deployed, along with 489 temporary toilets
