A woman lost her life after a chunk of plaster allegedly detached and fell from a ceiling in her home and struck her head. The incident occurred around 3 pm on Monday, in flat 335 of Pooja Apartments, located in the Gopcharpada area of Virar. Civic officials confirmed that a chunk of plaster, measuring approximately 4 feet x 4 feet, broke off from the ceiling and fell directly onto the woman, leading to fatal injuries.

The deceased — Lakshmi Raju Singh, 31 — was sleeping inside the room with her two children at the time of the incident. Fire brigade personnel from the Vasai-Virar City Municipal Corporation (VVCMC) promptly reached the spot after being alerted, recovered Singh’s body and rescued the children, who miraculously were unhurt.
