Two dead, three injured as soil collapses on labourers during building work in Mumbai’s Byculla

Two labourers were killed and three others injured when a portion of soil and mud collapsed during foundation and piling work at a building site in Habib Mansion on Hans Road in Mumbai’s Byculla (West), on Saturday afternoon.

The labourers were rushed to Nair Hospital around 2.40 pm. At 4.15 pm, Dr Poonam, the hospital’s assistant medical officer, said that two of the labourers brought to the hospital — Rahul (30) and Raju (28) — had died. The injured—Sajjad Ali (25), Sobat Ali (28), and Lal Mohd (18)— are undergoing treatment and their condition is said to be stable.
