According to information shared by police sources, the bike was initially owned by a person from Jogeshwari, who sold it to a second owner. The second owner later sold it to a third person, from whom the alleged shooters purchased it a few weeks before the firing.
Despite receiving payment, the third owner had not completed the transfer of the vehicle’s ownership documents to the buyers. The paperwork was reportedly scheduled to be completed after Navratri.
Investigators are examining the transaction trail and questioning people linked to the successive sales to establish the identity of the purchasers and the circumstances in which the motorcycle changed hands. The pending transfer has emerged as a key aspect of the probe, although its significance in the crime is yet to be established.

The investigation

“We are investigating the links,” said Mumbai DCP Raj Tilak Raushan. Police are examining whether the motorcycle was purchased specifically for the attack, who facilitated the transaction and whether the people involved in its sale had any knowledge of the alleged plan. The vehicle’s purchase history and the timing of the transaction are expected to help investigators reconstruct the preparations preceding the incident. The Crime Branch is also examining the evidence collected from the recovered motorcycle and correlating it with other material gathered during the investigation.
