Thane MACT awards Rs 18.96 lakh compensation to kin of man killed in 2020 highway accident

The Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) in Maharashtra's Thane has awarded a compensation of Rs 18.96 lakh to the family of a 38-year-old man killed in an accident on the Mumbai-Pune Highway in 2020, reported news agency PTI.

Thane MACT member K P Shrikhande directed the owner of the car involved in the crash and its insurer, TATA AIG General Insurance Co. Ltd., to pay the compensation jointly and severally with an interest of 9 per cent per annum from February 28, 2023, until the realisation of the amount to the deceased man's wife and minor son, reported PTI.
