<p>A <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-wall-collapse-damages-eight-vehicles-no-injuries-reported-23636775" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">portion of the boundary wall</a> of a dilapidated bungalow collapsed onto a busy road in Maharashtra's Thane city on Friday morning, prompting civic authorities to clear the debris and assess the structure. No injuries were reported in the incident.</p>
<p>Officials said the bungalow had already been classified as a highly dangerous structure and was marked for demolition due to its poor condition.</p>
<h2>Boundary wall collapses in Naupada</h2>
<p>The incident took place at around 9.30 am in the Naupada area of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/few-two-wheelers-damaged-as-part-of-compound-wall-at-thane-housing-society-collapses-23359610" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Thane</a> when a section of the bungalow's boundary wall gave way and fell onto the adjoining road.</p>
<p>Fortunately, no pedestrians or motorists were injured despite the road being busy at the time of the collapse.</p>
<p>Following the incident, officials from the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) and other departments rushed to the spot to secure the area and remove the debris.</p>
<h2>Civic teams clear debris from the road</h2>
<p>Yasin Tadvi, Chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC), said personnel from multiple civic departments were deployed immediately after <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/india-news/article/part-of-compound-wall-of-thane-civic-school-collapses-no-injuries-23247152" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">the incident</a>.</p>
<p>"Personnel from the disaster management cell, along with a pickup vehicle and a JCB machine, rushed to the site to clear the debris. They were joined by a junior engineer from the Public Works Department and staff from the anti-encroachment department," said Yasin Tadvi, Chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC).</p>
<p>The debris was cleared using heavy machinery to restore normal traffic movement in the area.</p>
<h2>Bungalow already declared unsafe</h2>
<p>According to civic officials, the bungalow had previously been identified as structurally unsafe and categorised as a dangerous building.</p>
<p>"The building of the said bungalow has already been declared as 'C-1' category, meaning it is highly dangerous, unfit for habitation, and requires immediate demolition," Tadvi said.</p>
<p>Authorities said the classification had already been issued because of the building's deteriorating condition and structural vulnerability.</p>
<p>The incident has once again highlighted concerns over ageing and unsafe structures during the monsoon season, when prolonged rainfall often weakens old buildings and compound walls.</p>
<h2>Two boys injured after window grill collapses in Bhiwandi</h2>
<p>In a separate incident reported earlier this week, two minor boys were injured after a window grill of a second-floor flat collapsed in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/one-dead-as-wall-of-under-construction-building-falls-on-adjacent-room-in-thane-23179131" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Bhiwandi town</a> in Thane district.</p>
<p>The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon near a mosque on Dargah Road.</p>
<p>According to an official of the Bhiwandi Nizampur Municipal Corporation, the boys, aged eight and 10, had come to visit relatives and were sitting on the window grill of a second-floor apartment in a four-storey residential building when it suddenly gave way.</p>
<p>The children fell to the ground and sustained injuries before being rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.</p>
<p>Officials said the building was not included in the civic body's list of dangerous structures, and the exact cause of the grill collapse is under investigation.</p>
