<p>Ten residents were safely evacuated after a minor fire broke out in the basement of a <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-in-meter-box-room-at-thane-residential-building-no-injuries-reported-23634670" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">residential building in Thane city</a> on Saturday morning, officials said.</p>
<p>No injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred at Gautam House, a two-storey building located near the Naupada Police Station.</p>
<h2>Fire breaks out in basement</h2>
<p>According to Yasin Tadvi, chief of the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-in-electric-duct-of-thane-residential-building-two-injured-23614928" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Regional Disaster Management Cell</a> (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), the fire department received a call about the blaze at around 8.10 am.</p>
<p>"A call reporting a minor fire in rubber mats kept in the building's basement was received at around 8:10 am," Tadvi said.</p>
<p>Emergency response teams, including personnel from the fire brigade, RDMC, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) and Mahanagar Gas Limited, rushed to the spot.</p>
<h2>Residents evacuated as precaution</h2>
<p>As a precaution, rescue teams evacuated ten residents from the building to prevent smoke inhalation and ensure their safety in case the fire spread to the upper floors.</p>
<p>"They were rescued to prevent the fire from spreading to the upper floors and to safeguard them from suffering due to smoke and suffocation," Tadvi said.</p>
<p>Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control within about 30 minutes through the joint efforts of the fire brigade and RDMC personnel.</p>
<p>Cooling operations were continuing at the site after the fire was extinguished.</p>
<p>Officials confirmed that no injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.</p>
<h2>Traffic hit at Majiwada, Thane-Nashik highway after car catches fire</h2>
<p>In a separate incident, a <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/thane-traffic-updates-traffic-movement-hit-on-thane-nashik-highway-after-car-catches-fire-23641445" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">car caught fire on the Thane-Nashik Highway</a> near Majiwada in Thane district, causing traffic congestion on the busy stretch before firefighters brought the blaze under control, officials said.</p>
<p>No injuries were reported in the incident.</p>
<h2>Driver escapes safely</h2>
<p>According to the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), the fire was reported at around 7.47 pm on Friday near Vijay Park, Kasarvadavali Naka.</p>
<p>The vehicle was travelling from Vikhroli to Lodha Amara in Kolshet when it caught fire.</p>
<p>The driver and his friend noticed the flames in time and managed to get out of the vehicle safely before the fire spread.</p>
<h2>Fire extinguished within 30 minutes</h2>
<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/fire-breaks-out-in-thane-apartment-damages-household-items-and-documents-no-injuries-reported-23639690" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Fire brigade personnel</a>, disaster management teams, traffic police and officers from the Kopri Police Station rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert.</p>
<p>The blaze was completely extinguished by around 8.20 pm using one fire engine and one rescue vehicle, preventing it from spreading to nearby vehicles.</p>
<p>Officials said the car was extensively damaged in the fire.</p>
<h2>Traffic restored after vehicle removed</h2>
<p>The incident caused traffic congestion on the Thane-Nashik Highway and the nearby expressway stretch around Majiwada.</p>
<p>After the fire was extinguished, traffic police arranged for the burnt vehicle to be removed with the help of a towing vehicle to restore smooth traffic movement.</p>
<p>Senior Police Inspector Dilip Patil of the Kopri Traffic Police branch supervised traffic regulation until normal movement resumed.</p>
<p>Officials said the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Traffic gradually returned to normal after the damaged vehicle was cleared from the road.</p>
