MMRDA fines contractor Rs 1 crore after surface distress emerges on Mumbai's Atal Setu

The contractor has been given a strict five-day deadline to complete the resurfacing. MMRDA warned that further action would be taken if the work is not completed within the stipulated timeframe

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has directed Daewoo–Tata Infrastructure Projects to resurface a two-kilometre stretch of the 22-km Atal Setu, citing minor surface distress observed on the Navi Mumbai–bound carriageway.

The issue was spotted during an inspection carried out on Friday by Additional Metropolitan Commissioner and Project In-Charge Vikram Kumar, under the guidance of MMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Sanjay Mukherjee.
