Friday morning's peak rush turned chaotic for hundreds of commuters after Churchgate-bound local trains were briefly halted at Andheri railway station.
Commuters aboard the delayed 7:40 am Vasai–Andheri fast local, which reached Andheri at 8:32 am instead of 8:23 am, were met with another setback. Just as they rushed towards Platform 8 for a Churchgate-bound train, an announcement declared the train would be sent to the yard, forcing everyone to get off and join the growing crowd waiting for the next local.
OHE fault between Dadar and Churchgate
According to railway officials, an Overhead Equipment (OHE) fault occurred between Dadar (DDR) and Churchgate (CCG) from 6:00 am to 7:22 am, affecting train operations on the busy corridor. Soon after the OHE issue was rectified, another technical snag, a point failure at Churchgate station, was reported at around 8:00 am, further disrupting train movements.
